The internet is a large, confusing organism. So here’s a few helpful defintions!

1. Website Diagnostic – what’s wrong with your website? Why aren’t you getting the traffic?
2. Website Optimization – choosing to install words on your site, that match the ones your customer uses in their search.
3. Website Acceleration – growing your website in months rather than years, effectively helping you to appear on or near page 1 sooner.
4. SEO – stands for search engine optimization. The aim of SEO is to increase your relevance to the search engines so you receive more traffic and, ultimately, more online business.
5. Ranking – where your site appears in search engine search results, based on the keyword/phrase searched for.
6. HTML – Hyper Text Markup Language, essentially the back ground to a website that the search engines read, record and base rankings on.
7. Keyword – A word which is commonly searched for on search engines and represents the theme of a site. For example, if you sell red apples the associated keywords might be “red apples”, “apples”, “red apple” or “apple”.
8. (Inbound) Links – these are the blood vessels of the interent. The more people linking to your site, the more online presence you will have. More links means the search engines can trust the content of your site above your compeitors. More is better, but quality is nearly always the main consideration over quantity.
